Biography

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. His family later moved to North Carolina, where Jordan developed into an elite basketball player and eventually starred for the University of North Carolina.

As a freshman in 1982, Jordan hit the game-winning shot in the NCAA championship game against Georgetown, immediately establishing himself as one of college basketball's brightest young stars.

In 1984, the Chicago Bulls selected Jordan third overall in the NBA Draft. He quickly became an explosive scorer and one of the league's biggest attractions. Jordan won NBA Rookie of the Year and continued developing into the defining player of his era.

Jordan ultimately led the Bulls to six NBA championships, winning three consecutive titles from 1991 through 1993 and another three from 1996 through 1998. He was named Finals MVP in all six championship runs.

His international career was equally remarkable. Jordan won Olympic gold with the United States in 1984 and 1992, becoming one of the central figures of the legendary 1992 "Dream Team".
