Chelsea welcome newly promoted Hull City to Stamford Bridge in an intriguing fourth-round Premier League fixture. Chelsea sit fourth with six points from three matches, while Hull have made an excellent start to life back in the top flight, collecting seven points and remaining unbeaten.

Chelsea looking to bounce back

Xabi Alonso's Chelsea suffered their first league defeat of the season last weekend, losing 2-1 to Arsenal. However, the Blues responded strongly in midweek, producing a spectacular 6-3 Carabao Cup victory over Leeds United, with Morgan Rogers providing three assists.

Chelsea have also been one of the Premier League's most productive attacking teams, scoring eight goals in their opening three league matches. Cole Palmer, João Pedro and Morgan Rogers have each scored twice so far.

Hull's remarkable defensive start

Hull City have been one of the biggest surprises of the opening weeks. The newly promoted Tigers have taken seven points from their first three matches and, remarkably, have not conceded a Premier League goal yet.

Sergej Jakirović's side defeated Manchester United and Coventry City while drawing with Aston Villa, putting them third in the early table. Their defensive organisation will face its biggest test yet against Chelsea's attack.

Head-to-head

Chelsea have historically dominated this fixture. The Blues have won their last nine matches against Hull in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last 17 meetings with the Tigers. Their most recent encounter ended in a 4-0 Chelsea victory in last season's FA Cup, with Pedro Neto scoring a hat-trick.

Chelsea have also never lost a league match at home to Hull in 18 previous visits, making Stamford Bridge an especially difficult venue for the visitors.

Prediction

Hull's unbeaten start and outstanding defensive record make this a much tougher fixture than the historical record suggests. Chelsea, however, have the stronger attacking options and home advantage.
